EMERGING VOICES 2024

**Open to Marin School of the Arts Students**

Deadline for First Round submissions is 11:59pm on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Sandcastle Theater Company is accepting 10-minute play submissions by Marin School of the Arts student playwrights for consideration for Sandcastle Theater Company’s Emerging Voices 2024 production.

Please note that “Emerging Voices 2024” will be a live, staged performance featuring 6-8 scripts, performed by an ensemble of professional actors and will have one (1) performance, April 4, 2023 at 7pm in the Center for the Arts on the Novato High School, Marin School of the Arts campus. 

Selected playwrights will actively participate in the revision and workshop process for their play and will be invited to attend rehearsals with artistic production team. Rehearsals will take place in February - April 2023.

Submission Requirements:

– 8-12 pages in length, formatted (example playwriting format)

– 2-4 characters (1 actor per character)

– 1 scene

– At least 1 character must undergo a transformation

– No copyright music or images

– Playwright(s) must agree to participate in revising process to be considered for final production

Submission Considerations:

– Plays will be performed in sequence with a standard set-up of black curtains, minimal and/or simple design elements (lighting, sound, costume, scenic, props)

– Plays will be performed by an ensemble of actors, average age range from 20s-50s

Play submissions will be accepted via Google Form.

Student-playwrights whose scripts meet submission requirements will be invited to participate in a playwriting workshop session for feedback (November, to be scheduled), with revised script files due on Friday, December 8, 2023.

Playwrights will be notified by Friday, January 8, 2024 if their play has been selected, with an announcement of the full list of script selections.
